Athletic and Valladolid have reached an agreement for the loan of Jon Morcillo until the end of the season. The left-handed winger of the Bilbao team, who this season had barely counted for Marcelino, trained yesterday afternoon with his teammates in Lezama. Today he is on his way to the capital of Pucela.
Morcillo, 23, made his debut as an Athletic player last season under Gaizka Garitano. Throughout this time he has played a total of 43 matches as a lion, signing two goals. His irruption in the rojiblanco first team came to mean the transfer during the last winter market of Iñigo Córdoba to Alavés and in the current season to the Go Ahead Eagles, of the Eredivisie.
Marcelino already made clear a few weeks ago his position regarding a possible transfer of Morcillo: “If a footballer asks to leave, I will not be the one to say no. If I do not agree, I will present the arguments so that he does not leave; but I will not go to forbid him to do it because it is against his will. If he is not comfortable in a place, he will never give his best performance. I do not like having footballers unhappy. “
Morcillo’s participation with Athletic this season has been rather testimonial. The Amorebieta footballer has participated in eight games, all as a substitute and in seven of them jumping onto the pitch from minute 80. In Lezama they trust that the experience at Valladolid under Pacheta can help him return back to the rojiblanco club.
