First bombshell! Spurs trade Dejounte Murray to the Hawks

We already have the first big transfer of this summer in the NBA. The Atlanta Hawks have done with Dejounte Murrayfrom the San Antonio Spurs, in exchange for Danilo Gallinari and three first-round draft picks.

The Hawks will send the first round pick of the 2023 draft through the Charlotte Hornets, in addition to those that belonged to him in 2025 and 2027, in an operation that was anticipated by Adrian Wojnarowskifrom ‘ESPN’, and Shams Charania, from the portal ‘The Athletic’, two of the journalists with the best sources in the NBA.

Murray’s arrival was already held by Trae Youngleader of the Hawks, on his social networks: “This is already reality“, he wrote. Both had shown in their closest circles the desire to play together next year.

Murray, born in Seattle in 1996, had an average of 21.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 9.2 assists per game in the last NBA season with the San Antonio Spurs. The player became an All Star and seemed destined to be part of the organization’s future.

The Texan franchise received a Danilo Gallinari that in the recently finished campaign he had an average of 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Italian is still a very profitable playeralthough far from his best years in the league.

The Spurs reached the play-in last season and fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Hawks reached the first round of the ‘playoffs’, but fell 4-1 to the Miami Heat.
