Villarreal will face a real challenge against defending champions Real Madrid at home. Against opponents who have not been in high form this season, they can successfully take advantage to end their defeat streak in recent clash.
llarreal have been in very good form since October began when, after 10 appearances since then, they are completely unbeaten in all competitions, including La Liga and the Europa League group stage. Even in those 10 unbeaten results there were only 2 draws while there were 8 wins. That achievement helped Villarreal to almost soon qualify for the Europa League group stage and finish in the top of La Liga 2020/21.
On the other side of the line, Real Madrid still showed a huge instability in their play when they seemed to have returned with quite a few impressive wins against difficult opponents such as Barcelona or Inter Milan when they lost 1-4 to Valencia recently. So even though rivals Barcelona is falling badly, Real Madrid have not been able to go too far in La Liga.
Villarreal play at home in the next leg of La Liga, with the momentum so high that Villarreal can clearly aim to win the game regardless of whether they host any opponent, including Real Madrid. This may sound impossible, but in fact, if it happens at the moment it’s perfectly normal. Despite not having as many outstanding individuals as Real Madrid, Villarreal have the uniformity and extremely cohesive play in the squad, while Real Madrid is a very good team and do not have too much interest from the lines. Moreover, Villarreal is very confident with extremely high momentum with many consecutive wins recently while Real Madrid, despite significantly improving their weaknesses, still play unspoiltly with quite a few responsib defeats. So if Villarreal continue to maintain their past side, they can afford to beat champions Real Madrid at this moment.
Villarreal’s defence is playing extremely well and impressively as apart from their ability to score regularly they have shown a very high performance compared to the general ground of La Liga this season. Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s defence did not have too many problems, but with the defence too down, it was no surprise that Real Madrid’s performance went down as well.
The head-to-head record is still tilted towards Real Madrid with four wins, four draws and two defeats out of their last 10 encounters. However, with the analysis of class, gameplay and especially the performance as mentioned above, experts concluded that Villarreal will beat Real Madrid in a match with many goals, thereby shortening the distance from their opponents on the head-to-head record.
